Nunca Nada Cambia

Everything Today is the Same, my political comedy directed, produced and performed by international women at three London theatres, will now be translated into Spanish and performed in Madrid.

Organized by Marlene Michaelis and collectively directed by the whole company – Almudena Amor, Katja Braun, Marlene Michaelis and Jamil Sumiri – ‘Nunca Nada Cambia’ will not just be a word-for-word translation of ‘Everything Today is the Same’. The whole concept is rethought.

Firstly, the British humour that just doesn’t work in Spain will be removed and converted into something more appealing to Madrid audiences. Secondly, set designer Jamil Sumiri will create a unique world for the play. The set is a series of huge blocks that change according to the positions of the characters. The entire structure of their lives moves according to their actions, their feelings, their responses.

The company putting it on – ‘Teatro en Obras’ – makes devised theatre, with its creators coming from a background of physical drama, so ‘Nunca Nada Cambia’ will be a totally different experience. This will be a work of movement, of force and feeling. A description made by Teatro en Obras is below.
