A preview of the collection is available on Professor Jane Rendell’s ‘site-writing’ website. ‘Site-writing’ is a concept, conceived by Rendell, in architectural theory that attempts to develop the position of the critic, turning her into an art and architecture user, a user positioned within space who must criticise her own position relative to the object of criticism. The theory of ‘site-writing’, as well as Rendell’s 2010 book on the subject, is crucial to the thinking behind City Embers.
